Craig Roberts was born in the West Midlands,
England in 1967. From an early age he showed a natural
flair and talent for art. Using the medium of black and
white pen and ink, much of his early works focused on
British wildlife and birds of prey.
Self taught in his trade, Roberts enrolled at Walsall College
of Art & Design and studied graphic design, spending his
early career in advertising.
Seeking inspiration from Alan Hunt and subsequently meeting him
for the first time at the Wildlife & Conservation Exhibition
in 1999 at the Halcyon Gallery, Roberts set out in earnest to
fulfil his dream to become a professional African Wildlife artist
and contribute to wildlife conservation.
In 2003, Roberts was chosen to exhibit his work at the Mall
Galleries (London) in the prestigious 'Not the Turner Prize' competition hosted
by the Daily Mail, raising his profile in the industry.
Turning professional in 2004, Roberts work is escalating in
popularity with unprecedented sales of his first four limited
editions.
Keen to use his talent to promote wildlife conservation and bring
the plight of endangered species to the attention of the wider
audience, he has embarked on a collaboration with the Born Free Foundation making a contribution from all
future editions to benefit conservation efforts worldwide.
Early 2005, Roberts will be embarking on a trip to Africa with
Stephen Mills (BBC
Wildlife Film Maker / Photographer) to the Serengeti &
Masai-Mara. Taking the opportunity to gather reference material,
photographs and field sketches for future works.
Craig Roberts works in acrylic and all gicl'ee limited edition
prints are reproduced to the finest standards on acid free paper.
Each print is hand signed in the margin by the artist and is then
sequentially numbered.
